"In my work I want the audience to see and feel emotions openly, I don’t want to conceal them. I want to reveal the concentration, insecurity, triumph or failure and the choices that will consequently follow: quit or try again."
In 2017-2019 Zinzi goes through a development program to become a director in the circus genre, in collaboration with TENT, with support of the Dutch Fund for Performing Arts. ‘This means that I will develop my skills as a creator of circus pieces. As a performer I have often been part of the creations process of shows, now I will be directing. During these two years I will research and compare different creation methods and put them to use.’
On this journey she creates three circus pieces; MEMO (a duet for Evertjan and herself about identity and (in)dependence), Barstool Bound (a site-responsive acrobatic music performance for pubs about aging for a quartet) and PIT (a mobile location performance that places its audiences looking down on a trio of acrobats). She writes the booklet GRIP about this process with the hope to help others on a similar path.
